The Story Behind the Fund
Some mothers are carrying responsibilities that are bigger than what the community can see.
In Namere Community, many single mothers are doing everything possible to keep their children safe, fed, educated, and loved. For a mother raising a child with special needs, the journey can be even heavier. She may need extra money for medical check-ups, transport, learning materials, nutrition, therapy referrals, school follow-up, and daily care. At the same time, she still has to look for rent, food, school fees, and income for the whole household.
These mothers are not weak. They are strong, patient, and full of love. But strength alone is not enough when a child needs special attention and the mother has no steady income, no proper support system, and limited access to professional guidance.
SAMI Foundation was born from this reality. Our founder, Sarah Mirembe Namusisi, understands the journey of single motherhood deeply. Through determination, love, and faith, she raised her children and supported them through education. Her story became the foundation of a bigger mission: to stand with single mothers, especially those caring for children who need extra care, patience, and protection.
